Twenty to thirty meters high vertical blasting wall that sometimes gives airy but at the same time well protected bolted sport climbing in the lower grades. Several of the routes offer surprisingly nice climbing and the central location of the wall combined with many easier well bolted routes makes this crag well visited. If you choose the finest ones you will find a surprisingly high concentration of some of the very best bolted routes in the 6a to 6b range in Stockholm.
The wall goes straight down into the Danvik Canal but just above the water surface a one meter wide "balcony" runs along the entire wall and makes all the routes easily accessible. Several of the route names are painted on the wall which makes it easy to find the right climb. Renovation work is almost complete and many of the older routes are now re-bolted and better protected than before. A high number of new routes have also been made in the year 2022/2023.
The rock is mostly solid and of good quality, although there are a couple of routes that are a bit brittle. Despite the many relatively easy routes the wall often offers a wonderfully exposed but still well protected climbing experience, and also within a totally mosquito and tick-free environment.
You usually need to secure yourself to get out to the anchors if you want to put a top rope from above. A fence runs along the wall at the top, but you can easily get up to the top by climbing over a railing at the stairs that lead down to the southern end of the wall.
Environment:
The wall faces west-northwest. Fully open location and the sun comes on the wall at around 13-14 in the afternoon. Most parts of the crag dry quickly, but the right part of the wall is generally dryer in spring. Boat traffic can sometimes be very intense in the canal, but do not forget to wave and smile when the sightseeing boats pass - the tourists love us!
