Description

🦉🦉🦉
An eagle owl is nesting in the area. No climbing is allowed for the time being.

‼️ IMPORTANT:
- A maximum of 10 climbers can be present at the crag at the same time - too many people? Corphalie, Dalle d'Engis and Awirs are only a few kms away.
- Parking: not on the kiss and ride just below the face, but 250m higher up (left at the intersection)
- Strict environmental restrictions, take extra care!

🧗‍♀️
Flône offers 30 great routes in the 6th and 7th grade. Also climbers enjoying the easier grades will be pleased with 20 routes up to 5+, even though they usually do not climb to the top of the face. Flône is housed in an old limestone quarry, leaving cracks and slabs as the most dominant features.

The wall is impressive and 40-45m in height.
When you climb here, we recommend ignoring all intermediate anchors and to climb to the top every time (if you have an 80m rope!). If you don't have the endurance, you can choose to climb in two pitches or climb the bottom sections only.
⚠️ Watch out with rope lengths below 80m. Because of the intermediate anchors, even with a 60m, you should be able to lower to the intermediate anchors and abseil from there. ⚠️ Be sure to make a knot in your rope! ⚠️

🔩 Completely restored and rebolted by BRT/KBF in 2014-2019
📚 A paper guidebook is available from the kbf webshop

History

Discovered by the legend of searching, opening and documenting Belgian rock, Jean-Claude Vittoz, in 1991.

in 2014 KBF made a rental agreement with the School on who's property the crag is located (L'Institut chrétienne de l'abbaye de Flône) and became the maintainer of the area, after a lot of cleaning (really, a lot! 🧹🧹🧹), bolting and rebolting the new crag was opened in 2019.

🙏 A thousand thanks to the tireless volunteers of KBF-BRT for the hard work delivered.

The area is owned by the Abbey/school ‘Institut de l’Instruction Chrétienne de l’Abbaye de Flône’.

🚗 Park as indicated only. Do not park directly at the crag as this is a kiss and ride zone which is in active use.

🚶‍♂️ From the indicated parking, walk downhill for 320m. In the tight lefthand bend, at the gravel-parking, take the clear path on your right and arrive in the quarry.
