Vernayaz is one of the best bouldering area in Valais. In a really compact area you can find more than 110 boulder problems in all grades.
The rock type is a mix of gneiss which requires good frictions. Conditions matter in this area! The typical Vernayaz route consists from overhangs with crimps, but you'll find all kinds of styles in the area.
The terrain is pretty flat and thanks to the paths it’s rather easy to move around in the area. This also makes many landings pleasant. Vernayaz is very suitable for families with kids as the approaches are short (1-5min) and often the ground is safe for the little ones to roam around.You can also find some really small rocks which aren't in the guidebook but fit perfectly for baby climbing. It's definitely too warm in summer but it can always bit a nice place to climb because it's a bit hidden in the forest.
