Description

Skogvannet, located in Alta, is a recently developed outdoor destination offering a range of amenities, including a bathing dock, beach, canoe, barbecue area, benches, waste disposal, and a restroom. It’s a favorite spot for individuals and larger groups alike.

🪨 Bouldering:
Skogvannet features bouldering problems ranging from beginner-friendly Font 4s to challenging 7A+ routes, with plenty of potential for discovering new lines. Many boulders are conveniently located along hiking trails, making them easy to access on foot or by bike.

🏕️ Camping:
Ideal for camping with vehicles, tents, or hammocks, Skogvannet offers a serene environment. Bring a steel brush if you’re keen on cleaning and establishing new routes. Mosquito repellents or netting are highly recommended during summer.

👪 Community Use:
The area is popular year-round with families, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Be respectful of others, camp responsibly, and ensure all litter is properly disposed of in designated areas.

History

There is little to no documented climbing activity at Skogvannet before 2023, though it has been a beloved recreational area for locals for decades. Kenneth Einvik published the first potentional boulder in 2015, and Martin Andreas Paulsen established the crag in 2023 brushing several new lines. The first harder 7A/V6-7 lines were added during the summer of 2024 by the German climbers Michel, and Sebastian Sieburg.
