Description

Maarianmaan puisto has a wealth of boulders and rock faces. The park consists of two valleys. The rock quality ranges from completely smooth to painfully sharp and everything in between. Climbing includes everything from overhangs to slabs.

The park itself is great with kids, and the harder boulders are hidden in a forest on the north side.

It is also very near a local swimming area, Pikkukoski

Note that because of the micro climate in the valleys, it is about 1-3 degrees warmer in Maarianmaa then in the surrounding areas. Also, there is very little wind.

History

The whole area used to be a shooting range, before it was opened up as a park 2015.
The southern side of the park has been renovated, while the northern side where most of the climbing is situated, has been left in a natural state.
