Climbing is predominantly sustaining on vertical pitted, about 15 - 20 meters high walls on good protected routes.

Best season is spring and autumn. "Ruine Leienfels" is faced sout-west and gets some sun at afternoon. Same with the small tower "Leienfelser Turm". The other sectors "Leienfelser Pfeiler" and "Leienfelser Block" are more shady and are good for summer and autumn.

As written above, "Ruine Leienfels" and "Leienfelser Turm" are faced sout-west, combined with quite a good exposing these sectors dry within one day after rain. "Leienfelser Pfeiler" and "Leienfelser Block" need several days to dry. Really rain protected is non of those sectors.

All sectors are suitable for kids. At "Ruine Leienfels" watch for broken glass. Some individuals still live in dark ages and throw bottles from the castle.

Next Camping is in "Betzenstein". Further accommodations are located in any village around, just pick one that's not occupied. In "Bärenfels" you get good food. There's a tavern in "Leienfels" with nice beer garden. Bigger shopping facilities are available in "Ottenhof" (Motorway access) or "Pottenstein"
