Description

La Reconnaissance 📍
A well hidden area behind the bigger more visited areas of Cuvier. The area is furthest away from the parking of Bas Cuvier and there is not a big difference for approaching from either the "Belle Croix" parking in the east, or from the main parking of Cuvier. The walk is around 15 to 20 minutes.

💎 If Bas Cuvier and the other areas are overcrowded, or you want to try some of the old classics this area is for you! There are many lines close to each other which makes it easy to get a lot of bouldering in in a short amount of time. The boulders are usually not very high and you can protect most climbs with 1 or 2 crashpads.

🧐 The area itself is not too easy to navigate in, and is boulder next to boulder making it a bit of a labyrinth. A lot of the easier climbs have been forgotten and not repeated since the days they were opened. But some classics remains, for a very good reason.

⛰️ The area is located a bit higher up on the hillside and some reception can be found, but downloading the guide offline makes most sense because already navigating there might put you in radio silence on the path.

🚶🏻🚶‍♀️ The approach is fairly long and in the area very unfriendly for a stroller. Not the absolutely most family friendly area with a stroller, but it could be a playground for kids.

History

📝 Some of the boulders in this area were climbed in the late 90s and early 2000s! Classic like "Anglophobie" have long been established and still shine with a lot of friction and some classic font style moves.
Over the years a lot of new lines have been climbed and established by the Allayaud family, featuring climbs like "Continuum", "Wallaby" and "P'tit Poum assis".
