Description

Brunnberget (also Ramelsberget on the map) is an elongated and formation-rich gneiss rock with fun climbing on nice grips. The climbing areas consist of Östväggen 10-12m high, Stora Väggen 20-30m high, Krönet 10-12m high, Döskalle klippan around 10-12m high, Kärleksväggen around 10m high.
On the south side of the mountain is the 8-12m high Paradisklippan which is under development, but so far there is only two sports route. There are traditional routes and sports routes.

Do not use the fixed carabiners for top rope climbing. Please use your own!

Neither the landowner, the club or the municipality nor anyone else is responsible for any bolts or firing anchors. If you want to do new tours, contact Borås Klätterklubb (climbing club) first. If you discover any faults on bolts, firing anchors or anything else that affects safety and that you yourself cannot fix, report to borasklatterklubb@gmail.com.

History

It was Martin Svensson and Marcus Santana who started to develop the cliff in the 90s.
The only source of information available (2020) about the overgrown cliffs/routes were the 19 route descriptions from an old Swedish guide where some had names and the others routes were named according to the order they came in along the cliff; route 1, route 2, route 3, and so on. Sometimes with a short description of the route, but there were no drawn lines to muster. The numbered ones number can still be found in their new route names; nr 2 = Two men down, nr 3 = Tre Amigos, nr 4 = Für Elise, however, is a bit far-fetched as für is pronounced fyr in Swedish;) and so on. The area has for long periods fallen into oblivion. But over the years, there have still been a few occasional bolted routes between the original routes, but there is a lack of information about both degree of difficulty, FA and route description. So, it has been a detective's job to try to figure out where the different routes goes.
For a long time, the area was a nesting area for protected birds, which meant a climbing stop until 15/7. But that is no longer the case.
In 2020, Borås Climbing Club took on the responsibility and work to make the cliffs climbable again and thereby also took the access responsibility. In 2021we began the work of inventorying and renovating the climbing area, with the landowner's full permission.
We have cleared away lots of trees along all the rock walls to get to climbing and to increase the safety of climbers and belayer.
This also means greater light/wind inlet so that the rock dries faster. In the spring of 2021, the rough work began with digging clean exits, clearing the crest and routes from loose stones/boulders, clearing the old sports routes and equipping them with new anchors or new carabiners. Some of the traditionally climbed routes still/and will lack anchors (7st). At the same time, we also started to make completely new routes on the various topos. In 2020, there were 8 sports routes and 11 traditional-/mix routes in Brunn and at the end of 2022, there were 40 sport routes and 17 traditional-/mix routes. Among these there have also been some traditionally climbed routes recently and all of the old ones have been cleared.
