Ävja is a big clean-cut slab with excellent crack climbing. The low angle combined with good possibilities to put gear makes this crag a perfect spot for beginners.
The main wall is west-facing and gets sun in the afternoon. There is also a smaller wall just a little further along the trail and a shady steeper wall opposite the main wall.
No one knows who climbed what and when on the main wall of Ävja. The routes described here are some suggestions that have been widely accepted, but in reality you could climb anywhere on this wall.
Neighbors to the mountain have been annoyed by carelessly parked cars and high noise levels. Therefore, avoid going on top of the mountain and use the belay anchor at ”Diagonalen” or the descent at the edge of the mountain. Keep a low profile!
