🧗♂ Waldeck is probably one of the oldest and at the same time one of the best-known bouldering areas in the northern Black Forest. Many boulders are easily accessible directly on a popular hiking trail, which also leads past the famous Waldeck castle ruins.
Please respect all access rules listed under “Access”!
📡 Reception:
Download the topo before you go there! The reception is not always available at the boulders.
🪨 Rock quality:
The quality of the sandstone here is very good! Some blocks needs some cleaning, so bring a (soft!) brush.
💎 Some of the most beautiful / challenging boulders are:
Lotterbett - FB 7A
Nachtschicht - FB 7C+
MiniRock - FB 8A
☀️ On hot / sunny days we recommend:
Most rocks / lines are faced south. But some get some shade by the trees. So choose wisely to save some skin.
👨👩👧👦 For families with children we recommend:
Block 01 is located directly on a good hiking trail with a flat square in front of it. Overall, all the blocks along the hiking trail are not bad. The lower blocks are mostly on a slope. Access to the lower blocks is also rather difficult for families, so not really recommended.
❗️IMPORTANT NOTICE❗️
Please do NOT climb after rain! Sandstone soaks up water! Even if the rock appears dry on the surface, it can be wet on the inside and therefore break very easily! As the rocks in this sector are always in the shade, it takes several days after rain for everything to really dry out. Please bear this in mind if you plan to boulder here!
