After their first visit to this climbing site, many visitors have concluded that if there is a paradise on Earth, it is Šuplja stina. A little Thailand is the second impression one gets. And they are right. This location offers an ideal combination of climbing and enjoying the sea. The cliff is only ten meters away from the sea.
The climbing site is in the vicinity of Sveta Nedjelja, a small town famous for its cave in which an Augustinian convent was located, and wine Plavac (wholeheartedly recommended!).
It is located on the south side of the island of Hvar famous for its mild climate and loads of sun. These characteristics make the climbing location an ideal winter destination, although it is also worth considering as a summer location since one can combine climbing activities with swimming and other seaside sports. It is also worth mentioning that on the site, as well as in the vicinity, there are opportunities for Deep water solo. Check www.cliffbase.com.
Amfiteatar is a new sector located above Sveta Nedjelja. It can be reached by a marked hiking path leading towards the cave, where you will find an abandoned Augustine monastery. In this sector, you will find longer routes leading over slabs and cracks. The routes are well protected. Since the routes have been established recently, you can expect some loose rock, so don’t forget your helmet! It is advisable to take at least 15 quickdraws.
You can also find three via ferratas in the same area, and they are excellent. They all lead to the top of the rock, and you can descend easily following a path from the top.

Note: Since the land underneath the cliff is a private property, prior to visiting the site, one must contact the bellow mentioned telephone numbers. There is to be payed the ticket (or donation is accepted) on the climbing site and that income is used for maintaining the infrastructure (private land, toilets, water, pitons and belays) ready for public use.
