Description

The north Velebit region holds many surprises, for excursionists and climbers alike. If we follow the track from Jablanac to Alan, we cannot even suspect what things await us. When the track’s steep ascent ends, after the so-called Turkish Doors (Turska Vrata), suddenly an astonishing monolithic tower appears – Strogir. For the climber it is like a gift from heaven. Isolated on a Velebit mountainside, from its top, it offers a magnificent view on the coastline and the islands of Pag and Rab. If the weather is unpredictable or the access to Strogir is too long, in the vicinity of the road there are three more sectors with beautiful routes. The Sklop sector, especially, offers several beautiful routes with an excellent rock quality.
All routes are bolted but small selection of nuts or friends is useful.
Accommodation: It can be bivouacked at the starting point of the track to Strogir (there is no water). Camp Stinica.
