Description

Torri del Sella and Piz Ciavazez are magnificent summits that are part of the Dolomites, one of the most evocative natural settings on the planet. The area has been recognized as an UNESCO heritage and it is an ideal destination for climbing, trekking, biking, skiing and doing many other outdoor activities. The area is surely one of the most famous in the North-East side of Trentino region.
The long rocky belt starts with the massif called Locomotiva, followed by the first tower (2533 m.a.s.l.), the second (2598 m.a.s.l.), the third (2696 m.a.s.l.) and then the Piz Ciavazes (2828 m.a.s.l.).
There are many historical routes running along these beautiful walls, finding the most logical ways through dihedral, chimneys and slabs. The difficulties are concentrated around the V and VI grades. The shortest routes have 5/6 pitches, the longest 15. Belays are generally set up with cemented rings, while other protections are on bolts. Trad gear is required.
These routes are highly frequented due to their beauty and also the short approach.

If you are a fan of multi-pitch routes you cannot miss the opportunity to climb in this magic environment. So take your most comfortable shoes and prepare to face the great dolomite rock of Torri del Sella!

History

The first and the second towers where climbed for the first time in the 1899. Throughout the following century all the group of Sella counted numerous ascents by strong and famous alpinists.
