Description

The Rocher de la Vièrge got it's name from a small statue that is stil present on the top of the crag (though not reachable for climbers). It is a limestone crag, often vertical with (very) small holds, offering mostly quite difficult routes (mostly on the Chirmont South face), although nice easier climbing 😊is possible on the Arête de la Tour, the Arête de Fairon and the Grand Ressaut.

Due to restrictive environmental legislation in Belgium, part of the routes had to be made impossible to climb around 2010 (screws and bolts make it impossible to clip in) 😒. Those routes are not comprised here. Please respect these restrictions!!

Nevertheless, the Rocher de la Vièrge offers some of the fine Belgian testpieces, such as 'Mon nom est personne' (7c+/8a)
And - quite uncommon in Belgium - nice bouldering can be found on the Rocher de Fairon!

The area is access sensitive!

The area is part of the Natura2000 network. Please take extra care of the fauna and flora. There are a variety of protected plants and species. Part of the routes has been prohibited for climbing (bolts have been made impossible to use).

Approach:
From the parking lot, folow the path along the railroad in southern direction until a small tunnel under the railroad at your left. Take this tunnel and turn left immediately after it. Follow the path in northern direction to reach the rocks
DO NOT CROSS OVER THE RAILWAY directly from the parking lot, under no circumstance! .
