Description

Predhorie consists of limestone crags located behind the village of Pružina and approximately 20km from the city of Považská Bystrica, in the valley of Strážovské vrchy.

The crags are located in a strictly protected area, therefore it is necessary to observe all the rules and principles applicable to the nature reserve. Several sectors are accessible via a tarmac road, hence easily managed with children and with strollers.

🧗‍♀️ MLYNISTE
This is newer sector, cleaned and bolted by J. Zigo. It is easily accessible even with small children and a stroller.
🚶‍♂️
Approach: From the car park, continue along the road to the right. After about 1km you will pass the Babirátka cave on your left hand side. After another 300m, the Mlynište sector will appear beyond the forest on the right and behind the stream.

🧗‍♀️ FERNET ARENA
This is a newly cleaned and bolted sector directly above the car park. Its creator is none other than J. Zigo. This sunny sector mainly offers easier routes, but also a few with boulder overhanging beginnings. The top of the rocks are visible directly from the road.
🚶‍♂️
Approach: From the car park, continue along the road to the right and after about 100m turn right into the forest uphill. There are a number of paths in the forest, if you go slightly right, you will surely find one that will lead you straight underneath the sector.

🧗‍♀️ HJUSTON ARENA
This is the most recently discovered sector on Priedhorie. There are mainly routes of lighter classification. The left part of the sector is hidden in the forest, so the routes are well shaded. More routes, including slightly longer ones, are located on the right part of the sector. As it is new, you still have to watch out for loose stones.
🚶‍♂️
Approach: from the car park, cross the tarmac road and take an unassuming path that leads along the border of the forest and above the houses. After about 200—300m, turn slightly to the right into the woods. Continue through the woods, the barely visible path should join a forest road. Turn right at the ridge from which you will be able to see the sector. Using this approach the sector is reached from behind and above.
The other possible approach is to continue from the car park along the tarmac road to the left (as if to the Zlatá sector). After about 400m there is a fireplace on the left hand side behind the stream. You need to cross the stream and continue steeply up the hill. Turn around the rock on your left hand side and the sector is right up on the ridge.
Hjuston aréna - Malá scéna (the left part of the sector) from the bottom of the Hjuston Arena take the path to the left under the rocks and follow for approximately 150m.

🧗‍♀️ Short description and approach to the sector Zlatá, Bronzová, Strieborná, Podkova, Kopyto and K60:
The first part of the approach is common for all these sectors.
From the car park continue along the road to the left, following the yellow and green sign leading to a tourist signpost (approximately 2km). To the sectors Bronzová and Zlatá, follow the road to the left with the yellow touristic signs. To Kopyto and K60 rocks keep right guided by the green signs.

🧗‍♀️ PODKOVA
This sector is hidden in the forest and it is therefore suitable for warm days. It offers several varied routes in compact rock.
🚶‍♂️
Approach to PODKOVA: About 20m after the tourist signpost turn right into the forest. The rocks are a short distance in the woods above the road.

🧗‍♀️ KOPYTO
This is another sector suitable for very warm days, as it is completely hidden in a valley and sits by a small stream. It offers several routes in hard lime. It is located next to the road, which makes access very convenient even with a stroller and with small children.
🚶‍♂️
Approach to KOPYTO: after the tourist signpost, continue to the right along the green hiking trail for about 100—150m.

🧗‍♀️ K60
This is a sector prepared by the club of hexagenarians for when difficult times come. This is how its authors F. Piaček, J. Zábojník, L. Makay and others describe the sector. Looking at the list of routes you will immediately understand why this is so; they are all easier routes. At first glance, the sector gives the impression of broken rock, but the wall is relatively solid. All the routes are very well bolted.
🚶‍♂️
Approach to K60: After the tourist signpost, continue to the right along the green hiking trail and along the stream for about 400m.

🧗‍♀️ BRONZOVA
This is a sector popular with parents and children; it is located next to the tarmac road. In spring, when there are no leaves on the trees, the sector is relatively sunny. Conversely, in the summer months the trees provide a much desired shade.
🚶‍♂️
Approach to BRONZOVÁ: From the tourist signpost, continue straight across the bridge following the yellow hiking signs. The sector Bronzová is visible on the left hand side.

🧗‍♀️ STRIEBORNA
A small sector that has partly fallen into oblivion. There are four routes and several unfinished projects.
🚶‍♂️
Approach to STRIEBORNÁ: From the tourist signpost, continue straight across the bridge following the yellow hiking signs. The sector Bronzová is visible on the left hand side. Immediately beyond it is a small rubble field and above this, the left side of the sector Zlatá can be seen. The path, which leads directly under Zlatá turns from the road steeply uphill. At the end of the scree, an inconspicuous path turns right under the sector Strieborná.

🧗‍♀️ ZLATA
This is the largest sector on Priedhorie with more than 60 routes, most of which in vertical or slab faces. It ranges from easy routes to several difficult ones. The sector is in the sun almost all day, so you can climb here even in the winter season during sunny and windless days.
🚶‍♂️
Approach to ZLATÁ: From the tourist signpost, continue straight across the bridge and follow the yellow hiking signs. The sector Bronzová is visible on the left hand side. Immediately beyond it is a small rubble field and above this, the left side of the sector Zlatá can be seen. The path, which leads directly under the sector, turns from the road steeply uphill, then leads through a scree and remains exposed in some parts. Be careful.

🧗‍♀️ PYRAMIDA
Forgotten wall probably because of its harder approach. From below the first routes on Zlatá cross over the rocks using via ferrata ladder rungs and turn left. After some 100m, find the abseil and descend under the wall. Alternatively, you can cross under the rock, but the terrain is very overgrown. The abseil is easier.
🚶‍♂️
Approach to PYRAMÍDA: From below the first routes on Zlatá cross over the rocks using via ferrata ladder rungs and turn left. After some 100m, find the abseil anchor and descend under the wall. Alternatively, you can cross under the rock, but the terrain is very overgrown. The abseil is easier.

History

Some sectors date from the 1990s and had been bolted by F. PIaček, D. Kuráň, F. Kopecký and company whereas some are almost new, and have been only recently cleaned and bolted. A large part of the work on these new sectors was mainly done by J. Zigo.
