Description

This small but interesting climbing site is hidden in the eastern parts of Hrvatsko Zagorje. It is surrounded by picturesque hills covered with vineyards and orchards. That is why this region is the most beautiful in the time of harvest. Watching the surroundings from the plateau at the top of the rock face, who would have thought that all this was once covered with sea? The evidence of that are the shell fossils found in the rock. The sea receded, and a former sunken reef was left behind, to the joy of today’s climbers.
The first routes date back in 1986. Climbing at Pokojec is very specific. Rock is polished smooth, majority of holds are oval shaped or are just small holes big enough for one or more fingers, similar to i.e. Buoux. Footwork precision is of high importance here. Routes are demanding and to climb a more difficult route, adaptation period to specifics of the rock is needed. Climbing is impossible if the rock is wet, but fortunately it dries very quickly.

⛺Accommodation: There is a mountaineers’ lodging nearby. It is possible to camp on the meadow at the foot of the great rock.
