Tucked away at the highest end of the valley lies sector Nifada (Greek for snowflake).
As you follow the winding path through the shaded forest, you might feel as though you’ve stepped into another world. Thanks to its elevation at 800 meters, a refreshing breeze often greets you, even on hot days.
But when you wake from that dream, open your eyes, another one is just about to begin... and it's about climbing.
Nifada offers high-quality, colorful tufa lines and a steep 20 meter roof, making it a must-visit for strong climbers. But it’s not just about overhangs, venture right and around the corner to discover technical vertical and slightly overhanging routes, hidden from view unless you follow the narrow goat trail a little further.
The grade distribution certainly favors stronger climbers, but with nearly twenty routes up to 7a, there’s something here for the whole family.
Come and see for yourself.
Description
History
It was discovered, explored, and developed with great care and a lot of bolts! by Austrian climbers Angela and Bernie in 2014/2015.
And then, of course, the usual suspects got involved (as they do with most of the harder crags around Leonidio): Micha, Jörg, Christian, Vincent, and myself.
But in this case, three traveling Frenchies couldn’t resist either. They jumped in, gave the sector a bit of their time and energy, and left behind a solid handful of well-bolted, 5-star lines.
