By Private Vehicle:
From Attiki Odos, enter Ymittos Ring Road (ΠΕΡΙΦΕΡΕΙΑΚΗ ΥΜΗΤΤΟΥ) just after exit #12. Alternatively, follow P.Kanellopoulou Avenue (Π.ΚΑΝΕΛΛΟΠΟΥΛΟΥ) towards the mountain (commonly known as “Katehaki Avenue”) which starts at the Katehaki METRO station. This avenue merges with Ymittos Ring Road after 3km.
After the merge, follow the road for 2,5km and turn left on the second traffic light towards Saketa Military Camp (there is an obscure sign indicating “Στρατόπεδο Σακέτα” on the right side of the road). Reach the main gate and continue on the dirt road that starts on the left side of the gate. You might be requested to show some form of ID at the gate of the military camp. 500m after the gate, park at the small parking space of Koutala’s monastery.
Continue by car or on foot if the fire brigade bar is locked, following the winding dirt roads as shown on the map. Total walking distance: 1500m, walking time: 20min, total positive altitude: 270m.
By Public Transport:
Karavi can be easily reached by public transport. Bus number 204 departing from Akadimias Avenue (in front of Athens Academy - Ακαδημία Αθηνών) and passing from Syntagma square in the city center, terminates at the gate of Saketa Military Camp. From there you can walk on foot as per above instructions.
