Description

Kåhög is situated just east of Göteborg and was developed 2001 with substantial additions between 2014 and 2017.

ASPECT AND CLIMATE
The crag is facing south but is shaded by big trees. The routes at the two right sectors (Gamla klippan and Höger) stay wet for a long time after rain while the routes at sector Vänster dry rather quick. A big drawback is the frequent train traffic just below the crags which makes it quite noisy (mostly at the right sectors).

THE ROUTES
The routes are between 10 and 20 m long. The crags vary between steep slabs and slight overhangs. All bolted routes are equipped with lower-offs.

THE SECTOR
VÄNSTER
The latest addition to Kåhög with rather long and entertaining routes. Here you will find both traditionally protected and bolted routes equipped with lower-offs. The routes are between 12 and 30 m. The sector is mostly facing south and dries pretty fast.
GAMLA KLIPPAN
This sector is about hard bolted routes and easy naturally protected ones. The crag is facing west and dries slowly.
HÖGER
A sector with both bolted and naturally protected routes. The crag faces south but dries slowly.

History

The lower part of Gamla klippan was developed 2001. The upper part as well as sector Höger got their routes in 2014 while sector left was established in 2015.

From Göteborg take motorway E20 eastwards. Leave the motorway at exit 82, Jonseredsmotet (signs for Jonsered) and follow signs for Jonsered and then for Kåhög. Park on the parking lot for the commuters which is on your left side just after you turn towards Kåhög.
The drive is about 12 km.
🚶‍♀️
From the car park follow the road over the creek and the railway. For sector Höger turn first right after railway and keep left onto Torsetvägen. Follow this street and then a path along the railway and you should soon spot the crag to the left in the wood. The whole walk-in for this sector is about 800 m.
For sector Gamla klippan follow the directions for sector Höger but as soon as you enter Torsetvägen turn left uphill (right of the big white house, keep a distance from the house). The bolted routes are just som 50 m from the street. To get to the trad routes follow the bolted sector to the right and turn sharp left after a while. The walk-in is about 500 m.
To get to sector Vänster continue straight ahead past the turn to the other sectors and then turn right onto Nedre Östergårdsvägen. Turn first right steep uphill. Just before the road flattens turn right into the wood and follow a path to the crag. The walk-in is about 800 m.
