Gibraltar is a child friendly crag in the forrest of Bergsbygda. There are at the moment 2 sectors at Gibraltar, "Mainwall" and "ulovelighetsveggen" (Forbidden wall). Plus another sector is under development as the "Nye gibraltar".
The Mainwall consists of routes from 4+ to 8a. Most of the climbing is on vertical walls, but there is also a couple steep routes like Norwegian Psycho, Påskeharen and Bjørnens rike.
Ulovlighetsveggen is absolutely not child friendly and there is also a problem with the landowner. Some of the routes have loose/hollow stones and shit. So be careful!
Recommended routes are:
Mainwall: Hakkehakkespett 6b, Bare beta 7a, Bjørnens rike and Norwegian Psycho 8a.
Ulovlighetsveggen: Forbudt frukt 6a and Cumshot 7c.
The history of Gibraltar is an ongoing project - Early in 2010, Roar "Formann" Olsen discovered the Mainwall. In the autum the same year Roar boltet five routes for a local onsight competition - This was the start of the Gibraltar era.
In 2012 a lot more people got psyched for the wall and startet establishing new routes. Today the numbers of routes on the Mainwall are 19.
The next year a new sector was discovered, Ulovlighetsveggen (Forbidden wall). In the belief that the same landover also owned this wall, the establishing of new routes started - After 6 routes the work was put down because of an disagreement with the real landowner - Until this day there has been no solution to the problem. Climbing there is without the permission of the landowner.
In 2014 another sector, New gibraltar was explored - There are a some routes here, but most is under development - More information will come soon on this sector.
