Description

Hey boulderers, come on! You have just found one of the best boulder areas of Corsica, Capineru!
The sector is located a small hill by the seashore, collects almost 50 boulders and counts a huge amount of problems for everyone (over 180!!!). Difficulty range goes from 4 to 8A+, there are both highballs and small boulders of excellent rough granite with nice pockets. Landings are generally good and it is easy to set the pads.
What makes Capineru so interesting is the shape of some boulders. They are beautiful sculptures overlooking the sea.
When do we recommend to come to find a great grip? Capineru allows climbing during the whole year, but in Summer the temperatures could be high. In this case we suggest you crush your fingers in the early morning and in the evening and chill on the beach the rest of the day. If strong winds blow from South-East (Scirocco) and South-West (Libeccio), climbing could result almost impossible due to the high humidity content. Otherwise, if the wind is blowing from North, the friction increases a lot.
Capineru has a infinite potential for new problems! If you walk East direction you will find many other nice boulders that are waiting to be discovered.
Since the area is full of rocks, we do not recommend swimming here, but do not worry! The beautiful San Giovanni beach is only 300 meters ahead from the car park.

To better appreciate the climbing, try to have the least possible impact on the territory. Wild camping is forbidden, do not make fires, take back all your garbage, do not spoil the vegetation. Do not exit the main paths, since many areas are private.
Respect places and people who live here.

History

Corsica bouldering has been improving since 2000. The main areas have been discovered by Pierre Petri, Pierre Griscelli, Bernard Choulet Menguy, Sébastien Curnier, Pierre Acquaviva, François Vecchi, Cyril Salze, Éric Biancarelli and many others as Mauro Calibani, who climbed the great problem Lo Squalo here in Capineru.
