Description

While Beddgelert has long since been a popular tourist destination, the bouldering here is relatively recent, only making an appearance in the 2017 edition of North Wales Bouldering. It's not really a surprise, given the hidden nature of the crags and how the first ascentionists stumbled across these isolated clusters of blocks will always remain remarkable.

We do owe a debt of gratitude to climbers such as Martin Crook, Gav Foster, Noel Craine, Dave Noden and Si Panton, among others, for finding and developing this excellent alternative to the typical crags to be found in the more popular neighbouring valleys. Split into two major areas - with another individual bloc for good measure - there is more than enough to keep anyone going with a wide range of grades on good quality rock.

Granted the walk in isn't very short but it is quite straightforward and noted that it is much easier on a mountain bike, if only on the way back. Personally though, i've found the walk more than pleasant on a nice sunny day with views of Snowdon and the valley as good as anywhere in North Wales and likely the crag and even the forest to yourself.
