Nestled in the scenic Chiese Valley, just north of Lake Idro, the Baitoni / Storo climbing area has something to offer to outdoor enthusiasts. While not as renowned as the Garda Trentino region, this area boasts a rich array of activities, including biking, hiking, swimming, paragliding, and of course, climbing!
This guide covers two distinct sectors: Corna dal Vescof and Al Castello.
• Corna dal Vescof is a huge wall dominating the landscape near the village of Storo. It overlooks Lake Idro and is named after the striking silhouette of a bishop ("vescof" in the local dialect) naturally carved into the rock, visible from the valley below.
The sector offers 29 routes, ranging from grade 4 to 7b, with different projects free to be tried and plenty of potential for new lines. Climbs here are typically on vertical faces with a mix of crimpy and pumpy moves on high-quality gray-yellow limestone.
The best conditions for climbing are during the mid-seasons, with morning shade providing a cooler environment. The approach is easy, the base of the crag is well-maintained, and the protections are reliable.
• Al Castello sector features 8 climbing routes, ranging from 5b to 7a. Climbers can expect technical lines on vertical faces, featuring numerous edges.
The crag is shaded during the morning, making it a pleasant spot for summer climbs. Access to the crag is straightforward, and the base area, though narrow, is comfortable. The routes are well-protected, with closely spaced bolts on the easier lines, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for climbers of varying skill levels.
The sector offers stunning views overlooking Lake Idro, adding to the charm of the climb.

Immerso nella pittoresca Valle del Chiese, appena a nord del Lago d'Idro, l’area di arrampicata di Baitoni / Storo ha molto da offrire agli appassionati di attività all'aria aperta. Sebbene non sia famoso come la regione del Garda Trentino, questa zona vanta una ricca varietà di attività, tra cui ciclismo, escursionismo, nuoto, parapendio e, naturalmente, arrampicata!
Questa relazione raggruppa due settori, Corna dal Vescof e Al Castello.
• Corna dal Vescof è una grande parete che domina il paesaggio vicino al paese di Storo. Si affaccia sul Lago d'Idro e prende il nome dalla sorprendente silhouette di un vescovo ("vescof" in dialetto) naturalmente scolpita nella roccia, visibile dalla valle sottostante.
Il settore offre 29 vie, con gradi che vanno dal 4 al 7b, con diversi progetti liberi da provare e ampie possibilità per nuove aperture. Le vie si districano su pareti verticali con una combinazione di movimenti tecnici e di resistenza su un calcare grigio-giallo di alta qualità.
Le condizioni migliori per arrampicare si hanno durante le mezze stagioni, quando la parete è in ombra al mattino. L'avvicinamento è facile, la base della parete comoda e le protezioni sono affidabili.
• Al Castello presenta 8 vie, con gradi che vanno dal 5b al 7a. Potete aspettarvi vie tecniche su pareti verticali, caratterizzate da numerosi cubetti e tacche.
La falesia è ombreggiata durante la mattina, un luogo piacevole per le arrampicate estive. L'accesso alla falesia è semplice e la base della parete, sebbene stretta, è confortevole. Le vie sono ben protette, con spit ravvicinati sulle linee più facili, garantendo un'esperienza sicura e piacevole per arrampicatori di vari livelli di abilità.
Il settore offre viste mozzafiato sul Lago d'Idro, un valore aggiunto alla giornata di arrampicata.
