Amazonas has for a long time been Oppdal's hidden secret. Although the cliff is clearly visible from the main road in Gråura, the crag was first developed in 2004. The cliff has a completely different character compared to most others in Oppdal. The routes are long and pumpy, as well as being exposed. The rock is generally solid with good friction, but can be somewhat chossy on the less popular routes. The bolts are also a little further apart here than at Ishoel.
The cliff faces the sun and it can often be nice and warm here already in April. If there is a lot of snow melting in the mountains, some of the routes may be wet even in good weather.
To get down to the belay you neee to rappel from a tree down to the belay shelf (NB! 35m). You can move relatively easily on the belay shelf without need to secure yourself.
