Description

The Rock Quality in this part of Wiesenttal (Wiesent valley) is just gorgeous. It's very compact and the surface structures are very closed. So climbing is very technical on tiny sloping crimps and it requires a precised foot technique. If you are used to typical franconian powerful moves on pockets you probably need to update your techniques.

The Tower "Schauertaler Turm" and the nearby "Schauertaler Ostwand" offers a dozen of good classic climbs. you climb more than 30 meter in more or less well protected terrain. You'll probably be amused if you are an alpine badass but as a sport climber you might get some good adventures here.

"Streitbergerschild" is the perfect destination for colder days. the south facing side of the shield can be climbed on sunny winter days and cloudy windy summer days, as well. This piece of wall has one of the best rock qualities in whole Frankenjura if you are looking for classic vertical climbing.
