Sibada is a compact limestone crag overlooking the Vicdessos valley, situated just above the hamlet of Niaux and around ten minutes' drive from Tarascon-sur-Ariège. Sitting at an altitude of roughly 630 m and facing west-north-west, the crag stays in shade until around 13:00 before heating up in the afternoon sun.
There are 46 bolted routes, mostly between 15 and 25 meters high, with the bulk of the climbing in the 6b+ to 7a range. Easier lines are rare—La Primitive (6a) is one of the few—so there’s little on offer for beginners.
The rock is compact grey limestone, offering vertical walls and short overhangs. Expect technical, finger-intensive climbing on crimps.
Standout routes include Les Anneaux de Saturne (6b+), Truc en Vrac (7a), and Apnée (7c). A 60 m rope and a dozen quickdraws are sufficient.
Sibada dries quickly after rain and is well sheltered from the wind, making it a solid choice for winter and shoulder-season climbing. In summer, however, the rock becomes hot in the sun and there's no shade at the base; morning sessions are advised.
