Description

Situated close to downtown Helsinki with vertical sport climbing. About 10 minutes of walking distance from the Mellunmäki subway station. Naulakallio is a sunny and fast drying cliff with a very long season from February to November.

Naulakallio is at best 16 meters high which is very good by capital region standards. There are only a few cracks and thus most of the routes have been bolted. The easier routes tend to have more bolts than the more difficult ones. Naulakallio hosts a Finnish multipitch oddity if you combine Kesäaika and Naulatraverse. Combining these routes is also possible in one very long pitch but the rope drag can be quite bad.

History

Naulakallio has a long climbing tradition. Naulakallio was listed in the Mountainshop list of climbing sites already in the 1990's.

The first routes were bolted in 2008 by Stefan Engström. In the end of 2018 many new bolts were added and now the site could be defined as klettergarten ie. climbing park.
