While the Penamenbach Boulder is an isolated bloc with a limited number of climbs, for the right climber, it is most definitely a good option; especially given that view! The routes are excellent, and with the lack of seepage, the exposed aspect and the location (i.e. not in the mountains), the Penmaenbach Boulder will be a good option when others aren't in good condition. And again, that view...
Parking up, you wonder where you've ended up but very quickly, the path takes you away from civilisation - the sound of the nearby A55 notwithstanding - and into the wonderfully rural setting that one has come to expect from the area. There are a couple of sport crags up there too, so a trip could easily be combined with some swinging on ropes but even for a dedicated session, the Penmaenbach Boulder is worth keeping in mind.
