Val di Genova is an amazing fresh valley close to Madonna di Campiglio. It is well known for its beautiful streams, waterfalls and pine tree forests. This valley is the best refuge against the hot temperatures of the Summer and it is a perfect destination if you are looking for long easy walks in nature.
Val di Genova is a nice destination also for climbers! Here you can find both sport climbing routes and boulder problems that always feature a high quality granite. But let’s focus on these areas!

Pigoz is an historic crag at the entrance of Genova valley. It features a small wall with a tens of routes from 6a to 7c going through a rebus of edges and blocks. The rock is a great granite, the equipment on some routes is aged so pay attention. Crag base is ok and the wall faces south, so it is possible to climb here the whole year.
Camomilla, Crozze alte and Crozze basse are three sectors close to each other. They have a bit of a long approach but offer almost 30 sport lines ranging from 5+ to 8a+. Some lines here are really technical and fingery.
Nardis is a small crag just to the right of the beautiful Nardis waterfall. The crag has two walls with west and South exposure. The routes are 16, from 6a+ to 8a and require good technique and rock reading. The equipment is new and set up properly. The crag base is ok and also the approach is quite easy, only flaw is the presence of vegetation on the path connecting the west wall to the south one (about 15 meters). It is composed of a super quality granite, offering crimpers and nice cracks.
If you are lucky, you could find some wild raspberries close to the crag.
Lares is a very nice summer crag, close to Lares waterfall. The area is often cold thanks to the northern exposure and the wind coming from the waterfall. The routes are nice and run along a slightly overhanging granite wall of about 25 meters. Crimpers, slopers and tiny foot holds make the climbing technical but at the same time quite physical. The total amount of routes is 20, from 6b+ to 8b, and all of them are well bolted.
The crag base is comfortable and you can enjoy the background noise of the waterfall.
Do not come during rainy days, cause the crag could be wet.

Finally, bouldering in Val di Genova is really entertaining, thanks to the great problems and the beautiness of the area. There are over 300 problems of any difficulty and the potential for new lines is high. Each year the strong local climbing community is committing to clean new boulders and climbing new lines. Generally the biggest areas are nestled in the woods, but there are also some boulders on the road side. Boulders are grouped in small areas and spread along the whole valley, you will enjoy exploring them! The area is always fresh and it gives its best during Summer.

Come Val di Genova and spend the day visiting the valley and the other waterfalls. In winter the valley also offers nice ice falls to climb! Please respect the nature of the valley. Follow the trail and take home the trash. Help us to keep this nice valley clean.

History

Pigoz is one of the oldest crags in the area. It was discovered by a team of climbers called Rampagaroi in the 60-70s.
Camomilla sector was equipped by Thomas Morandi and Crozze Basse by Alessandro Beltrami.
Lares was equipped in 1997 thanks to Franco Cavallaro and Rolando Larcher. The routes were recently maintained and new ones were born.

The boulder areas in Val di Genova are continuously growing thanks to the huge effort of the local climbing community.
