Description

📍A small forested canyon in Grimstad, Norway. Beginner friendly.

🧗 Slab and overhanging climbing on relatively solid granite/gneiss. Mostly lists and cracks. Most lines are bolted, while some cracks are tradlines. The walls are mostly around 8-10m high, while some of the slabs are 10-17m. Grades from 5 to 7c+, mostly 5s and 6s.
🥾 The anchors are easily accessible from the top. Walk around. Rappell from trees or bolts (above Kallamar and neighbouring lines) down to the anchors.
🍼 The crag is suitable for beginners and kids. Next to Sugekopper there is bolted a practice-anchor.

☀️🌳💧 The crag is shaded by the surrounding oak forrest and is cool also during summer. Sector Svaet dries relatively quick after rain.

🚗🚶10 min drive from Grimstad. Park by the white house before the tunnel under E18. Don't drive alle the way up to the crag! From the parking, follow the gravel path under the highway and head right into the canyon after about 300m. Approach time 2 min.

⚠️ Respect parking restrictions! Super important. The topos on the left hand side of sector Svaet are temporarily placed. Needs to be corrected. Some routes seem to lack anchors and/or bolts.
⛔ 06.2022: Some routes might require rebolting. Please be cautious.
ℹ️ Please provide topo suggestions, additional information or any other feedback that might improve the crag info :)

🖌️ The crag is maintained by Grimstad Arendal Klatreklubb (GAKK) and all income goes to bolting and maintaining local crags. See http://www.klatringsor.no.

History

📔 The crag was bolted and developed by Markus Landrø, Bernt Ove Reinertsen and others in the mid 80s. Some routes have been rebolted in recent times, however more rebolting is required.
