Description

An area with three distinct sectors with three very different styles.

Outlet-Murrica- The highlight of the area. Nice rock quality and several technical routes up to 7A. Most of the routes are fewer than 10 moves, but the routes are sustained and very entertaining.

Laikkujäkälä- A small slab with some interesting features and many lines. Most of the vertical routes are very short, with only 1-2 meaningful moves each, but the traverse clocks in at 6B, but might be a little bit harder. It has a nice variety within the traverse from a hard crimpy start to an endurance battle at the end.

Karkkitori- A sector that makes you question your life choices and how much you care about your skin. The highlight is definitely Vihrea Kuulat if you actually enjoy skin and climbing, but the obvious boss monster is Salmiakki. Like its namesake, Salmiakki is not for everyone; it is approximately 50 moves, with the real difficulty starting exactly halfway and ramping up to the crux at the end. There is a possibility of doing the traverse in the reverse direction, but it would be even harder. Salmiakki has two critical unidirectional footholds, so the reverse direction beta hasn't even been unlocked at the time of writing.

History

The rocks were scouted during 2020 Covid pandemic when the climbing gyms closed down.

The sector was expanded beyond the size of a free crag in June 2025 with the addition of Karkkitori and the expansion of Outlet-Murikka. Outlet-Murikka was cleaned up by an unknown party (most likely including Olli Pasenius, who holds several of the FAs), and chalk appeared on new lines. Those lines were added here without an official consultation, so the naming scheme is based on the single existing route from the old days.
