🚗 Arrival
From Trento, take the SP235 towards Mezzolombardo / Bolzano. Before reaching Mezzolombardo, stay on the SP235 by following signs for Cles, which will take you through a long tunnel. Continue to a large junction with a car park in its center and enter the next tunnel, signposted for Cles - Malè. Follow this road for approximately 13 km to the village of Dermulo. Drive through Dermulo, and when you reach the train station, bear right, following signs for Merano / Bolzano / Fondo. Continue on this road for about 4.1 km to reach Sanzeno.
Now you have two options:
• Car park for scenic approach: this is your only option from mid-July to the end of August, when the road towards the sanctuary is closed. You may also choose this car park year-round if you don’t mind a 20-minute walk rewarded by a scenic trail through the gorge. To reach it, continue driving through Sanzeno and, at the end of the village, look for a large car park on the right side of the road, used by visitors to the Museo Retico.
• Closest car park: at the first small square along the main road inside Sanzeno, turn right following the signs for Sentiero S. Romedio. Pass the church and keep to the right on the slightly downhill road, continuing to follow the brown signs for San Romedio. Drive for about 1.4 km and find a parking area on the left side of the road, just before an evident stairway.
🚶♂️ Sector
• From the closest car park, climb up the stairway to quickly reach the sector.
• From the scenic car park, take the sidewalk and continue along the main road towards Fondo. Follow the signs for San Romedio: the well-marked trail runs along the side of the gorge and leads to the wall in about 20 minutes.
