Deep Sea Boulders

The area is access sensitive!

🔴You'll unfortunately need a boat to get to this area, as it's across the lake from all of the public lake access.

🔴 This area is water level dependent. It is only climbable in the late fall through early spring. Crow's Nest is climbable year round if you have a boat to carry your pads over there. The Pirate Boulder is climbable pretty quickly, but the Globin Boulder will take more time. You can find the current water level at:
https://www.lrh-wc.usace.army.mil/wm/?basin/kan/sug

🔴Salmon Run Parking Area is a fee area in the summer. This will not affect you if you are bouldering because the boulders are under water in the summer.

Driving Directions: From Fayetteville, turn right and drive on US-19 north for 20 miles, crossing over two bridges (the NRG bridge and the Meadow River Gorge bridge), then through 2 stoplights, and over one more bridge over the lake. Keep driving past the main Summersville Lake/Pirate's Cove/Circus Boulders parking and take your first left onto Summersville Lake Airport Road. Once off the freeway, take an immediate left onto Salmon Run Road. You should now be driving back the direction you came from, but not on the freeway. The road ends in a big parking lot and put-in in the summer, but as the lake lowers, you'll drive through the parking area and take a slight left past the bathrooms to the winter ramp. You can parallel park along this ramp instead of driving back up to the parking lot if it's not crowded. Salmon Run put-in is a fee area, but the fee is waived when the lake level is below summer pool, so you should not have to pay to park if you're going bouldering.

Boating Directions:
Head out of the Salmon Run inlet (a no wake zone). As soon as the No Wake Zone ends the lake opens up in both directions. Head left and under the bridge. As you motor up the lake, you'll pass Pirate's Cove on your left, then see the main Summersville Lake climbing area on the same side. After passing Orange Oswald Wall (a bright orange and white cliff near the edge of the summer pool level of the lake that will likely have climbers on it), the lake will fork again. The Circus Boulders will be on the left across from the fork, and the Deep Sea Boulders will be on the far shore on the right. The Midnight Zone Boulder is first, and the Twilight Zone Boulder is a bit further up the lake.
