BESTER CRAG is at Rocklands Basecamp which is 30km from Clanwilliam. From Clanwilliam, drive over De Pakhuis pass into the valley. Continue past the signed entrance to De Pakhuys and Alpha Farm on your right, keep going straight . Pass the Klein School on your left. A few hundred metres past Klein School the entrance to Rocklands Basecamp on your left. Go through the gate and take the right hand track. Park at the shipping container.

Kindergarten Crag:
At ground level next to the parking and shipping container, this is the perfect easy access crag for climbing with kids. At the grades, these relatively short climbs have a sting.

To access all other sectors, walk down the track (up the hill and along large flat rock on the right of camp, next to the glamp site with a white stretchy tent. Take the marked trail to the left of the glamp spot. Take the first left at the cairn and keep following the cairns as you go up. All crags are on this path.

Moon rise wall:
The first crag on the trail, about 10 mins. Two obvious buttresses with a triangular gap in the middle. This is crag is ideal for a late afternoon/ moon rise session.

Taal saal:
20 minutes walk from Moonrise wall. Continue up the trail/scramble to the right of the moonrise wall, until the plateau. Tend left across the plateau until the two large obvious boulders. Turns right (up) a steep staircase. The path flattens out with the wall on the right hand side. Afternoon shade.

Rooikat wall:
The big, steep obvious red wall that you can see from the road. In shade for most of the day. Keep on the trail past the Taal Saal turn off. The trail goes under a low lying Yellowwood tree and hugs the cliff line. There are a few hard first ascents to be grabbed here! If you do, let us know / edit the line using 27 Crags app

Catacombs:
5 minutes past the Rooikat wall and up a tier. The caves have all day shade.

Diagon Alley
A kloof (gorge) hidden to the right of the Rooikat face. At the rooikat face, walk to the far right, cross a small gulley scrambling along a ledge to a big block. Mantle onto the block and mantle onto the ledge to the left, following the "path" to the cliff line to "The Leaky Cauldron (15)". Climb "The Leaky Cauldron" to enter Diagon Alley. The chains can later be used for an abseil anchor to descend all the way to the base of the Rooikat sector safely.
An alternative approach to Diagon Alley can be taken via the Office's back door, traversing the top of the crag and entering via the back of the gulley.

The Office:
Turn left at the catacombs and go up another level. The office is a little cave complex.

The Corona Buttress:
Left of the office

Stove leg sector:
20 min along the base of the cliffs from Corona Buttress. You will pass a lot of crags with development potential. Follow the cairns through Yellowwood forest. Some scrambling is necessary.

Reggae reggae sector:
5 minutes past the Stove Leg sector. Lots of new route potential too...
