We have landed in the heart of the Cembra Valley, along the banks of the Avisio stream. Here, in the nearby small villages of Piazzo and Pra’, two distinct climbing areas await exploration.
These climbing spots showcase the famous porphyry rock of the Cembra Valley, an experience that every climber should try at least once in their lifetime. The two areas offer both sport routes and boulders, situated apart from each other but connected by the same road running alongside the stream.
• Sport sectors group two walls, on different sides of the valley. Sector A boasts over 30 routes ranging from 3 to 7a. The routes are short at the sides and longer in the middle, offering technical climbing on big edges and cracks, ideal for practicing hand jam techniques. There are also a couple of didactic trad lines. The approach is very short, and the crag base is quite comfortable, with the sun shining during the afternoon.
Sector B is beautiful, though less comfortable. To reach its pillars, one must cross the river via a Tibetan bridge. It offers 40 routes from 5 to 7a, requiring both endurance and technique. This sector also features some multi-pitch routes and trad possibilities.
Additionally, both sectors are surrounded by easy via ferrata, making it a great spot for beginners. It's a family-friendly location with plenty of alternatives to climbing, good picnic spots, and even a rustic WC.
• The boulder area is a hidden gem, featuring 40 high-quality problems ranging from 4+ to 8A. The highlight is Boulder 6 - From River to Sky, known for its amazing lines. With zero approach and good landings, it's an excellent spot. Just a few lines are very close to the water, making them difficult to climb when the river level is high.
For those tackling the hardest boulder problems, the mid-seasons offer the best friction. Summer is still enjoyable due to the coolness from the river. The area is truly relaxing, thanks to the low frequency and the soothing sound of the water.
Please remember to respect the area, we are on private grounds, and keep the narrow road unobstructed at all times.
Beyond climbing, there are some delightful attractions to visit. The Ponte dell’Amicizia is a bridge that connects the sides of the Cembra Valley, close to Pra’ village. Also, don’t miss the Piramidi di Segonzano, stunning earth pyramids topped with stones.

Siamo arrivati nel cuore della Valle di Cembra, lungo le rive del torrente Avisio. Qui, vicino ai piccoli paesi di Piazzo e Pra’, ci sono due interessanti aree di arrampicata da esplorare. Questi luoghi presentano la famosa roccia porfirica della Valle di Cembra, un’esperienza che ogni arrampicatore dovrebbe provare almeno una volta nella vita. Le due aree offrono sia vie sportive che boulder, sono un po’ distanti tra loro ma collegate dalla stessa strada che corre lungo il torrente.
• I settori delle vie sportive sono caratterizzati da due pareti, su diversi lati della valle. Il settore A raggruppa oltre 30 vie dal 3 al 7a. Le vie sono corte ai lati e più lunghe al centro, e offrono un’arrampicata tecnica su grandi spigoli e fessure, ideale per imparare le tecniche di incastro. Ci sono anche un paio di vie trad didattiche. L’avvicinamento è molto breve e la base della falesia è piuttosto confortevole, con il sole che splende nel pomeriggio.
Il settore B è bellissimo, anche se meno confortevole. Per raggiungere i suoi pilastri, bisogna attraversare il fiume tramite un ponte tibetano. Offre 40 vie dal 5 al 7a, che richiedono sia resistenza che tecnica. Questo settore presenta anche alcune vie multipitch e possibilità trad. Entrambi i settori sono circondati da vie ferrate facili, un’ottima occasione per i principianti. È una location adatta alle famiglie, con molte alternative all’arrampicata, buoni punti per picnic e persino un WC rustico.
• L'area boulder è un gioiello nascosto, con 40 blocchi di alta qualità che vanno dal 4+ all'8A. Il punto forte è il Boulder 6 - From River to Sky, noto per le sue linee straordinarie. L’avvicinamento zero e gli atterraggi sono generalmente sicuri. Solo alcune linee sono molto vicine all'acqua, rendendole difficili da scalare quando il livello del fiume è alto.
Per coloro che hanno intenzione di affrontare i blocchi più difficili, le mezze stagioni offrono la migliore aderenza. L'estate è comunque piacevole grazie all’aria fresca proveniente dal fiume. L'area è davvero rilassante, grazie alla bassa frequentazione e al suono rilassante dell'acqua. Si prega di ricordare di rispettare l'area, siamo su terreni privati, e di non ostruire in alcun modo la strada.
Oltre all'arrampicata, ci sono alcune deliziose attrazioni da visitare. Il Ponte dell'Amicizia è un ponte che collega i lati della Valle di Cembra, vicino al villaggio di Pra’. Inoltre, non saltate la visita alle Piramidi di Segonzano, stupefacenti piramidi di terra sormontate da pietre.
