Agia Marina is a small limestone crag on the southern coast of Athens, located near the beach of Lombardas. Being a short and not particularly impressive cliff, it probably won’t justify a trip from downtown Athens. On the other hand it’s certainly a good option for anyone living nearby and looking for a short climbing session in an area almost devoid of other crags.
What the routes lack in height, they certainly have in character, bearing the personal route-setting signature of D. Stravogenis and S. Moutzouvis. Climbing here is brief but intense, edgy and often sharp on the fingers and the brain.
The crag is located very close to the coast avenue, and although not visible from the street, can get vey noisy, especially on weekends. On the upside, the nearby beach can serve as an after-climbing remedy for those daring enough to approach the south facing cliff on a summer day.
