Description

🚶‍♂️ 20' - ⛰️ 310 MSL - 🧭 N/E/S/W - ☀️ all day

Montalbano is a huge climbing area on the back of the village of Mori. You will be welcomed by an infinite number of blocks of all sizes spreaded around a nice lawn and inside a pine forest.
This topo collects over 200 boulder problems and 50 sport routes with a wide range of difficulties.
Since the sport routes run also along huge boulders, endurance is not a fundamental requirement. Otherwise, good foot technique and finger strength are necessary to enjoy the most difficult routes. The rock is limestone and some of the most repeated lines could be a bit polished. But they are still nicely climbable, especially with fresh conditions.
The area is generally warm, thanks to the huge wall on its back that works as a natural radiator, so it is possible to climb during the whole year, even if we advise against Summer if you want to try the harder lines.
The area is the best for families. It is equipped with warm up tools and pic-nic stuff. Montalbano climbing park suits well for beginners, but it is also good for more experienced climbers.
Peace and tranquility reign supreme here, interrupted only by the gentle tolling of the bells of the Sanctuary in the nearby.

Do not miss the famous via ferrata “Monte Albano - Ottorino Marangoni" that starts very close to the boulder park. This trail follows the natural features of the wall along cracks, dihedrals, chimneys and ledges. It runs for 550 meters along the wall and overcomes a difference in height of 300 meters, reaching an altitude of 600 meters above sea level. You will enjoy a beautiful view over the village of Mori and the Adige valley.

From Mori village it is possible to reach another small sport climbing sector called Last’Area. It is a small wall inside the woods and not really known, but it is frequented by local climbers. The bolts are old but still good. The rock is nice, giving us a tens of technical pitches ranging from 6a to 7b.

History

The boulder park was enhanced by the alpine society SAT of Mori, as the great via ferrata “Monte Albano - Ottorino Marangoni". The via ferrata was developed in 1976 and it was reopened in 2014 after 3 years of closure, during which important maintenance works were carried out.
