Description

Mont Simonet
Some claim it's their favorite area of Fontainebleau. And Why not? It's perfect for someone climbing around 7A'ish. There is a huge amount (+50) of doable new school 7A's or harder in this area. Also there might be some potential for putting up some harder boulders over the 8th grade. The area is really quiet even during times when just 500m away in elephant one would need to take a number to try some of the Classics. And the climbing in Mont simonet is world class. There are some true beauties around.

Some to try:

Pitt Boule 7A
Simonette 7A
Colonne 6C
La Ripolin 5
Bivouac Surprise 6A (!!!! Awesome cave with big jugs and this grade for a roof!)
Citadelle 6B+
Prise de Comprime 6C+/7A
Hard Rock 7A
Motivé 7A+
La Proue Mystérieuse 7C? (Very unknown!)
Triathlete 7A+

The area is child friendly and nice. There are some unknown problems maybe climbed, but not graded or named. Hopefully in the years to come there will be more information about these. The area also seems to feature a bit more hard rock than èlèphant and might be considered to dry quite fast.

Now you have it, the very first good guide for Mont Simonet! Go there and have a blast!
