The boulders are located just behind a residential area and you can actually see into people’s gardens. This means that keeping a low profile is mandatory, keep on your best behaviour. Keep your noicelevel down. Don't play music. Don't litter.

🌍 Kvalvika is the name of the bay and nearby recidential area. The crag is a jumble of blocks in assorted sizes laying beneath a short cliff just next to the houses.

🧗‍♀️⛰ The bouldering here is mostly on free standing boulders with a fine grained texture. The landings can be a bit challenging but tend to be ok if you place your crash pads carefully, and a spotter is often nice to have. A lot can be done with one pad but best to bring two. There is not much vegetation of the boulders so they dry fairly fast.

👶 The area is not child friendly in any way. If you bring older kids be sure they keep their noice level down.

The pile of blocks behind the residential area of Kvalvika had long been deemed unfit for bouldering by many locals. But thanks to the ever eager Sten Stenkjær who finally saw the potential around 2012 and dragged several members of Bodø Klatreklub to see for themselves. A few lines has since been added and a few projects still awaits.
