Description

Hanikka is a crag with two low walls with a nice handful of good routes for beginners and intermediate climbers. Routes offer a wide range of styles from slabs with microscopic holds to overhangs with jugs. The rock is not too sharp and routes not too tall. The parking is close and there's a public beach ~400 south towards Suvisaaristo.

The rock type is quite basic red granite. The walls aren't tall, and the landings are usually quite safe, with the exception of some rocks. Hanikka Left receives a lot more sun, especially in the evening due to it's orientation, while the main sector has a bit more shade.

History

The routes at Hanikka have been opened several times prior to digital topos. Some early climbers have ticked their ascents here and some have not. The current set of routes is a fusion from the early days and newly added in-between routes. More versions and variations have been done and everybody is encouraged to forget the "official" topo for a while and find their own training routes on these walls.

SKIL is currently working on adding more sectors to the crag in the nearby area. Stay hyped for new additions!
