Description

Branson is one of the most iconic and historical bouldering areas in Valais. With the first 8B and first 8B+ in the world, it's a must-visit destination in Switzerland. It's basically one boulder with hard lines. You will find in a walking distance a few more boulders with moderate climbs which are perfect for warm up of nice day in the sun side.

The terrain is pretty flat and makes landing pleasant. Branson is very suitable for families with kids as the approaches are short (1-5min) and often the ground is safe for the little ones to roam around. It's also in the sunny side of the valley which makes Branson a perfect winter area.

Recommandation:

History

La Danse des Balrogs is the first 8B boulder in the world opened by Fred Nicole in 1992 and Radja the first 8B+ boulder in the world also opened by fred Nicole in 1996. Since then a few new betas were discovered and you can climb "easier" version of these lignes or stick to the history and try them as they were first climbed.
