Description

Wehr get’s its name from the small dam near which all the boulders are located. Climbing on Granite blocks on both sides of the river.
The ones on the same side as the main road are a few meters uphill into a forest but can be barely seen from the road. These 3 blocks have some amazing lines and are definitely worth a vistit.

!!VERY IMPORTANT!!

DO NOT CROSS THE DAM ITSELF NOR GO NEAR IT!! cross the river further downstream where there is a natural river bed. Unless the water is really high it is possible to cross the river without getting wet.

History

Gerhard Hörhager, Markus Schwaiger, Much Mair and Mario Waldner established the first boulders across the river in 2001. Then in 2007 the boulders on the same side of the river as the road were discovered. Mario Kuess, Emi Moosbruger and Kornelius Obleitner opened the first lines here. Chaka Waka (7c+) was the latest addition being added in 2012.

Climbing has been limited!

Due to wildlife feeding near the boulders on the other side of the river, bouldering here is not tolerated at this time. Please respect this. The boulders on the same side of the river as the main road remain accessible.

DO NOT GO NEAR THE DAM!!
(If you want to cross the river do so far downstream from the dam where there is a natural river bed.
The boulders on the other side of the river are all located around the gravel road and are all easily accessible.)

The boulders on the same side of the river as the road are accessible by walking up a steep short hill, check images for a picture of the access path. Furthermore the Trails are indicated on the map.

Before you get to Mayerhofen take a left turn off the main road and drive up through the tunnel, right at the end of the tunnel turn left onto the Toll road. Follow this until you reach the dam to the right of the road.
Parking is along side the road on asphalt, it is basically a wider portion if the road. Try to leave as much space as possible for passing traffic.
