Description

Villette is located at 800/850m in a birch and pines forest in the beautiful Vigezzo valley. The rock is mostly low-mid quality gneiss/paragneiss with big crystals. It can offer many different styles of climbing, from slabs to roofs. Mainly very crimpy, but slopers and wide pinches appear sometimes. Perfect for climbing in winter due to the sunny exposure, if you need some extra grip look for cloudy days(even in winter). A bit too hot during summer months but still climbable, especially in the late afternoon after a swim in the river. Bring an iron brush and a short rope for recleaning the boulders cause most of them have been covered by the moss.
The right side of the valley (Lujon side) offer a much better rock quality, a red and compact gneiss, but it has not been totally explored due to the steepness of the mountain, a lot of boulders have never been touched.
Few higher boulders have been bolted some 30+ years ago, bring the rope if are interested. In autumn you can find mushrooms.
