Nestled near the village of Giovo in the Cembra Valley, Verla is a small yet unique bouldering spot that stands out for its sandstone blocks, a rarity in the Trentino region. Though the area features only 26 problems ranging from 5B to 8A, spread across 10 medium-sized boulders, it’s well worth a visit for climbers seeking a distinctive experience.
The highlight of Verla is undoubtedly “Boulder 2 – Cassa Malati”. This boulder hosts tens of physical and engaging lines that promise a memorable challenge. Across the area, the climbing style leans toward the physical, with steep walls and fairly good holds, making it an ideal spot for those who prefer the strength against the technique.
Landings are generally safe and comfortable, making it a welcoming destination for climbers of various skill levels. While the approach might feel a bit long, it’s along a well-maintained road accessible to all.
It’s important to note that the bouldering area is located on private land, so respectful behavior is essential. Situata vicino al villaggio di Giovo, nella Val di Cembra, Verla è una piccola ma unica area boulder che si distingue per i suoi blocchi di arenaria, una rarità in Trentino. L'area offre solo 26 passaggi, con difficoltà che vanno dal 5B all'8A e distribuiti su 10 massi di medie dimensioni.
Il vero gioiello di Verla è senza dubbio il “Boulder 2 – Cassa Malati”. Questo blocco ospita una decina di linee fisiche e coinvolgenti che garantiscono una bella sfida. In generale, lo stile di arrampicata è piuttosto fisico, con muri strapiombanti e prese abbastanza buone, il che lo rende un luogo ideale per chi privilegia la forza rispetto alla tecnica.
Gli atterraggi sono generalmente sicuri e comodi, rendendo questa area adatta a climber di diversi livelli di abilità. Anche se l’avvicinamento potrebbe sembrare un po’ lungo, la strada è ben mantenuta e accessibile a tutti.
