Description

Ucklum is one of the youngest crags in the guide (developed during 2019). Most of the routes at the crag are bolted. The grades are on the easier half of the grading scale.

ASPECT AND CLIMATE
The crag faces south and is in the sun most of the day. Most of the routes dry very fast.
There is newly planted forest in front of the crag which means that in some years at least the belayers will be in the shadow.

THE ROUTES
The routes at the crag are mostly vertical with some small overhangs and/or slabs. The routes are 10-16 m long. There are both bolted and naturally protected routes at the crag. All routes are equipped with lower-offs.

History

The crag was developed during 2019 with some later additions.

The area is access sensitive!

Make sure your parked car is not blocking the road for big vehicles. Do not continue further down the road. Turn your car at the parking lot and drive out the same way you drove in.

Keep a very low profile as there is a house close to the crag.

Please note that climbing is forbidden during hunting season (after 1st October).

From Göteborg take motorway E6 northwards. Leave the motorway at junction 90, Stora Högamotet (signs for Tjörn/Orust/Stenungsund S/Ucklum). Turn left after about 14 km (3,5 km after Ucklum, signs for Tönneröd) and turn immediately right. After 350 m turn left and you should see a marked parking lot after some 150 m.
The drive is about 55 km.

From the parking lot enter the pasture, go down and over a very little creek. Continue into the newly planted forest and you should arrive at the crag after some 150 m walk-in.
