Description

Syrjälänkallio is about 50 meters wide cliff. Climbing is mostly steep and partly vertical. There are also a couple of slabs on the right side of the cliff. The diversity of the rock allows versatile use of the body, such as hand jams, knee bars, toe hooks and dynos.

There is mostly really good friction in the rock and there are not too many sharp holds.

The Pearl of the area is route called Le petit Hiidenkirnu. It is 8 meters high and first ascent was made with traditional climbing technique. We look forward to the day when it gets its first Boulder ascent (Juho Knuuttila made first boulder ascent 14.7.2020 congrats💪🙏)

Best season is from May to June and from Septemper to October. Several first ascents have been made in the summer so even hottest months are just fine. The cliff opens to the west so it stays cool until the afternoon.

History

The area was discovered in 2018 by Juha Hirsimäki and climbing activities began in 2019 by Eero Virtanen, Markku Vahter and John Seppänen.
