Description

A small but interesting limestone wall nestled in a nice forest with many picnic areas, this is what Spormaggiore crag has to offer.
The sector is located in the area of Castel Belfort, close to the ski resorts of Molveno / Andalo. There are 28 equipped routes, with difficulties from 4a to 6c and few more harder lines. All of them are spreaded along short grey slabs and require a good technique. Spormaggiore is a good choice for beginners, because they will find this style very useful to learn how to use the feet and feel the balance on the rock.
The bolts of the lines are good and close to each other, the crag base is comfortable and the approach is short and easy. In addition, there are picnic areas close to the car park and to the wall. This mix of features makes Spormaggiore a beautiful destination for families.
Summer mornings have good conditions to climb here thanks to the west exposition of the wall and its altitude.

We recommend to follow the path that starts from the car park and leads to the Belfort castle, it deserves a quick visit! Besides, mount Paganella is very close to Spormaggiore. There are a bunch of nice excursions and from its top it is possible to admire a fantastic panorama that extends up to Lake Garda. Finally, if you are a mountain bike lover, this area is full of downhill trails that take advantage of the skiing facilities.

History

Spormaggiore was developed by many climbers. We remember D. Cavosi, R. Maurina, S. Elmi, C. Tenaglia, M. Zeni, S. Avanzi. The sport association Liberamente also took part in the work.
