Description

Smokovlje (Zaograda) is a new climbing spot not far from the Bol village on Brač island. It is equipped with help of local authorities and city of Bol.
The rock is of the very good quality, compact and mostly vertical with some small overhangs, very similar to Marjan crag. It is mostly winter crag because of orientation which is southwest-south-southeast. Routes are very well equipped with high quality marine inox. Hight of the routes is mostly around 20m. On this spot predominantly we can find easier routes but there is place for hard ones too. Potential for new routes is far from the end, so developement on this crag will be continued.
Now in combination with another, but hard core spot Smrka Brač island is much more intresting for climbers.

Opening new routes is possible only with marine inox material and in coordination with municipal authorities of Bol, Brač.

History

Most of the routes are equipped by local climber Milan Karmelić and Croatian climbing legend Ivan Lisica (on picture).

Smokovlje - Brač

The area is access sensitive!

🚗
In the eastern part of Bol, on a hill above the Dominican monastery, it is necessary to turn onto the macadam road in the direction of the east. The macadam is of solid quality, suitable for city cars, and it is necessary to drive 4 km to the parking lot at the foot of the rocks .
🚶‍♀️
From the parking lot follow the well-established path, partially marked with stone pyramides towards the rock face (5-10min).
Important: we ask for maximum responsible behavior in terms of parking and use of the access road since the macadam is busy and the trail runs on private land.
