Description

Ruhankallio is part of Janakkala's Toivanjoen cliff area. The routes of Ruhankallio are technical and require physical finesse. The type of rock is very good quality granite and is extraordinarily majestic - even so majestic that the routes on the crag do not get wet in small bouts of rain. The crag faces northeast and is shaded. During the summer heat, when it would be too hot to climb at other places, Ruhankallio provides a cool place to climb. The terrain in front of the crag is even, even though it is quite rocky.

History

Routes were established slowly since 2005.

Ruhankallio

The area is access sensitive!

🍃
The cliff situates in a reservation area so it's even more important to act smoothly and collect all your garbage when leaving.

🚗
From Helsinki-Tampere highway (E12/130) turn west towards Tervakoski. Drive the road 2896 (Tervakoskentie) / 2874 (Vähikkäläntie) for 6,4 km/ 8 min. Turn left to 'Ruhantie', drive 750 m / 1 min, the parking is on the right side of the road. Leave your car to the extension before the path heading to the cliff (1 car) or on a small space on the right about 30 m before the path (2 cars).

The road is used by very wide machines and it's hard to get by if cars are parked beside the road.
Thereby absolutely no parking beside the road!

Accessing the crag by public transport your best bet is to bike from the train station of Ryttylä (12.9 km). The train goes often, weekdays and weekends alike. If you plan to go with the bus + walking combo, your best bet is to walk from the bus stop at the crossroads of the Tampere motorway and Tervakoski. The walk would be quite long though, clocking in at a tough 7.5 km.

🚶‍♂️
Follow the path on the right to the crag.
