Approach: Turn of the A53 Buxton-to-Leek road approximately 2km south of the Winking Man Inn (named after one of Ramshaw’s many unusual rock formations — a face-like buttress with an ‘eye’ which briefly ‘winks’ as one drives past it heading north) and follow a narrow road for some 250m to reach a lay-by on the left (P). On the opposite side of the road, a few metres back towards the junction, a well-marked path leads up the hillside and along the top of the entire crag. The first buttresses lie less than 50m from the road and are reached by branching right off the main path just a few metres after leaving the parking area (2 minutes) while the furthest (Old Fogey Area) is situated some 600m uphill (15 minutes). Note: climbing is NOT allowed on the Winking Man formation!
